Silk snapper, also called yellow eye snapper, lives from North Carolina south to Florida, including the Gulf of Mexico, east to Bermuda, and further south to Brazil.
Color is generally red, with yellowish caudal, anal, and pelvic fins. Distinctive and prominent dark comma-shaped blotch at the base of the pectoral fins.
